The Goring Wins Hotel of the Year

In its 99th year as one of England‘s most celebrated hotels, The Goring was awarded the 2009 Independent Hotel of the Year at the annual CATEY Awards, essentially the Oscars for the British hospitality industry.

The Goring was chosen by a panel of judges who are leaders in the industry.  According to one judge, "The Goring serves as an inspiration to those in the industry who share the belief that unswerving best practice can comfortably coexist with innovation and dynamic investment." 

Jonathan Epstein, President of Celebrated Experiences added, "While many hotels in this tough economic environment have shied away from investing in the future, The Goring continues to enhance their already stellar hotel product with bold and exciting additions."

This is the second major award The Goring has won this year. In April it was named "Hotel of the Year" by Pride of Britain Hotels, a collection of the country‘s finest privately-owned hotels.  The Goring was opened in 1910 and is the only five star hotel in London that is owned and run by the family that built it.  The interiors have recently been refreshed by some of the country‘s finest designers, including Tim Gosling, Nina Campbell and Russell Sage. 

This is the second consecutive year that a Celebrated Hotel has won this major honor.  In 2008, Isle of Eriska in Scotland was the victor.
